Supporting Research for Indigo's Methodology
Many existing researchers, organizations and philosophies align with Indigo's methodology and practice.
Here are a few of the key thought leaders that we work and align with.
Center for Individual Opportunity
The Center for Individual Opportunity exists to drive demand for personalization for all aspects of society, including education. Co-Founder Todd Rose's book and Ted Talk, The End of Average, highlights the need for education to move away from average based standards to truly personalized learning. Indigo is currently conducting research with CIO proving there is indeed no average student. White paper to be released in Spring of 2018.
Example of a student's jagged profile in 10 Indigo dimensions
The image above is an example of an actual student's jagged profile (name changed). As you can see, this student is only "average" (the middle 30 percentile) in one of ten Indigo dimensions. In a diverse data set of 16,000 students, zero students are average in more than 8 dimensions, and less than 5% are "average" in more than 3 dimensions. Each one of us is truly unique.
Education Reimagined sees the current school-centered education system transformed into one that's truly learner-centered. It is a future with thriving learners surrounded by engaged and dedicated educators, parents, and communities. Key stakeholders from around the country worked together for 18 months to offer this vision as a beacon for all those dedicated to transforming education in America.
Indigo shares this vision for education and helps achieve it by helping schools deeply understand who their learners are so they can focus on meeting each student's needs.
CASEL - Social Emotional Learning
CASEL is the world's leading evidence-based social and emotional learning (SEL) organization and network. Their mission is to make SEL an integral part of education from preschool through high school.
Indigo deeply aligns with CASEL's 5 dimensions of social emotional learning and enhances SEL initiatives. Our early detection system also helps schools quickly know which students might need additional social emotional support.
ASCD - Whole Child Learning
ASCD's Whole Child approach is an effort to transition from a focus on narrowly defined academic achievement to one that promotes the long-term development and success of all children.
Indigo helps educators more easily gain whole child information and perspective. Our Indigo Highlight provides engagement strategies for educators based on a whole child approach.
